Pre Launch Get Together
As most of you will be aware, we had planned to launch our new Gallery this weekend. But Allas, due to circumstances beyond our control, it was not to be. We have postponed our opening until later in the year, and will announce the new date as soon as we can.
We do hope everyone is keeping safe and well in these very unusual times, but before this madness we did manage to have a get together of staff and artists at the gallery space to familiarise everyone with the space and with each other. Being that we want our artists to feel like they are part of a team we felt that its important that relationships are built to enable the opportunity to feel supported, and inspired. We want to generate conversations and collaborations. And above all we want our artists to feel valued.
It was a very enjoyable afternoon, and it made us feel very warm and hopeful about the future of this new project that we have been working on. One of our core artists, Melanie Thompson, even curated our first collaboration. Everyone was asked to bring in an item to contribute to a group installation which was created in the gallery as a celebration of what’s to come.
It felt like the beginning of something special.
I would personally like thank everyone, the artists, our staff and the public for being so supportive of this new adventure. I would especially like to thank Julian for his vision and for the fact that he has created this exciting new project right here, in the centre of our town, and Jolene for being the glue that holds it all together . This is an opportunity for art and creativity in a really fantastic space and I look forward to what the future holds.
