A Creative New Chapter - We’ve heard you! 🎨
Over the past few years, our little team at Heart of the Tribe Gallery has been busy bringing exhibitions to life, supporting artists and growing our creative community.
As much as we’ve always loved hosting workshops, finding the time to organise them alongside everything else has been a bit of a challenge. So, for a little while, they’ve taken a back seat.
But we know how much you’ve been missing them, and we’ve been missing them too!
That’s why, as we look ahead to 2027, we’re making space for something special. We want to bring more opportunities to learn, experiment, get messy, try something new and, most importantly, have fun together.
For 2027, we’re planning a varied programme of creative workshops designed to inspire and encourage you to explore your artistic side.
From discovering new techniques and learning from talented artists to getting hands-on with materials you might never have tried before, we want there to be something for everyone.
Whether you’re a seasoned maker, a curious beginner or someone who simply fancies a few hours doing something a little different, you’ll be welcome.
Our workshops will be about the joy of the process just as much as the finished piece. It’s about giving yourself permission to play, learn something new and enjoy a little creative time for yourself.
At Heart of the Tribe, we’ve always believed that art is about more than what ends up on the wall. It’s about the people behind it, the ideas it sparks and the connections it creates.
Our workshops will be another way to bring people together, share skills, learn from incredible artists, discover new passions and celebrate the wonderfully diverse ways we can express ourselves creatively.
And, of course, they’ll be happening right here in our Community Hub, a space that’s as much about community and connection as it is about art.
We’re busy putting plans together and can’t wait to start sharing what we have in store for 2027.

Book your Light Painting Portraits with Kim this November
✨ Step into the light and become part of the art ✨
Join artist Kim von Coels for a unique photography experience where she creates photographic magic. Using long exposure techniques and light painting, Kim transforms portraits into luminous works of art.
Your Session Includes:
90 minutes (60 mins shooting + 30 mins set up/image review)
3 digital low-resolution jpeg files emailed to you after your session
A chance to explore and co-create with one of Somerset’s most exciting photographic artists
Dates & Availability:
📅 Sessions available in the lead up to Christmas: 7th – 18th December
⏰ Pre-book a slot online to secure your portrait. Limited drop-in sessions available on the day (subject to availability).
⚡ Please note: This experience is not suitable for persons who have epilepsy or are sensitive to flashing lights.
All children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Suitable for all ages. Small groups (up to 4 people) welcome per booking.
Create a Creature with Shirley this December - ONLY 3 SPOTS LEFT
Detailed, step-by-step workshop in a small group setting, led by local artist Shirley Emmerson (B.A.Hons). A highly experienced ceramic and vintage textile sculptor, who will guide you through all the processes to make, shape and paint your art work.
No experience necessary! This short course is designed to welcome everyone, from complete beginners to those with more experience. Come with your own ideas or take inspiration from the demonstration creatures on show during the workshop.
Reference images, will also be provided.
All clay, tools, glazes and two firings are provided.
YOUR PIECES WILL BE TAKEN AWAY AND FIRED.
Collection dates will be three weeks after the class is completed.
Postage can be arranged at an extra cost.
