Jay Caskie
A printmaker based in Cornwall, UK, whose work draws inspiration from the vast Canadian landscapes of his upbringing and the rugged beauty of the Cornish coastline where he now lives. Specialising in relief printmaking, primarily wood engraving and collage, Jay creates intricately detailed landscapes that explore themes of home, solitude, and the deep connections between humans and the natural world.
Jay’s prints not only capture the physical characteristics of landscapes but also evoke their emotional resonance. His detailed scenes invite viewers into contemplative moments, encouraging introspection and reflection through the subtle complexities of his work.
Originally from Halifax, Canada, Jay earned his BFA from NSCAD University in 2019. Since relocating to Cornwall, he works from his studio at Krowji, Redruth. Outside the studio, he enjoys exploring Cornwall’s beaches, surfing, listening to podcasts, and spending time with his cat, Olive.
Jay regularly exhibits his work both in the UK and internationally. His prints have found homes in private collections worldwide, including in the UK, Australia, the USA, Japan, France, and Germany, reflecting a broad appreciation for his delicate yet powerful interpretations of landscape and place.
