ROMA MAY
Based in Southsea, Roma is a freelance illustrator whose work draws deeply from the natural world, ritual, and folklore. Her illustrations are rich in detail and texture, exploring themes of decay through organic forms and fluid compositions.
Working across both digital and traditional media, Roma creates evocative, freehand imagery that often bypasses formal planning in favour of instinct and flow. Her process allows intuition to guide the line, resulting in artwork that feels both spontaneous and intricately realised. Flora, fauna, and abstract natural shapes are recurring motifs, reflecting her enduring fascination with the complexity and beauty of nature.
In addition to her illustration practice, Roma is currently developing a range of bespoke products crafted with high-quality materials and techniques, an extension of her commitment to making art that is both meaningful and beautifully made. Alongside her creative work, she is also pursuing a career as an art teacher, sharing her passion for visual storytelling and encouraging others to connect with their own creative instincts.
