HERE & NOW exhibition

Following on from our 2024 Winter Open exhibition, we invited a selection of our favourite artists from the show to return to our gallery with a plethora of new works.

The Here & Now exhibition at Heart of The Tribe has given us the opportunity to showcase a group of talented and ambitious creatives to the Glastonbury community. The exhibition has been celebrated by viewers for it’s eclectic variety of themes and mediums, aided strongly by the diversity of the exhibiting artist’s backgrounds.

An aspect of this show we take pride in at the gallery is the ability to grant opportunities to artists looking to get their work out there. In an industry where it’s often difficult to cultivate individual notoriety, we hope to shed light on artworks and artists that we love and believe should be given the wider audience they deserve.

But enough about us. Let’s meet the artists!

Deborah Clarke

Hailing from neighbouring Dorset, Deborah’s work in sculpture spans over 25 years and draws inspiration from The Jurassic Coast and Wessex folk tales. Her series of Green Men are playful and expressive characters, influenced by the winter solstice and the Holly king.

Fiona Gill

Bringing unparalleled skill and attention to detail, the work of Fiona gill captivates all who see it. Created with painstaking patience, her worlds of fauna and nature crafted with felt and hand stitching continue to inspire and push the boundaries of what can be archived in the world of textiles.

George Cox

Botanicals, urbanism and our connection to mythology all run deep in George’s work. Never ceasing to experiment, George explores traditional draftsmanship, cyanotype exposure and door painting as mediums/methods of creativity.

Kim Jenkins

Kim’s primitive yet mature linocut prints invite the viewer into a personal and deeply sincere inaudible dialogue. Inspired by her fondness of eastern European folklore and traditions, you’re transported into her world with an all-too-pleasant familiarity.

Megan Jones

With elements of paganism and spiritual symbolism, Megan’s etherial figurative paintings reshape one’s connection with nature and the earth. Although not local, her work exudes Glastonbury energy.

Nicole Revy

An experienced illustrator, Nicole creates intimate and bewitching linocut prints. Her work explores femininity, family and healing expressed through energetic figures in dance-like expressions.

Valerie Jarvis

Often inspired by her views of the ocean, Valeries takes vintage and recycled textiles and creates glorious rugs.

Dianne Harris

Along with the returning Winter Open artists, the gallery has welcomed Dianne to display two of her neon pieces. Her work explores human consciousness and our relationship with cosmic energy.

Graham Hawkins

Graham previously partook in the 2023 Winter open and when he submitted more work for the 2024 edition, we happily accepted. Made from recycled materials, Graham’s dynamic sculptures are inspiring to all, both in craft and iconography. His attention to detail is exceptional.
