Jorge Lar

Jorge Lar is a contemporary artist and printmaker whose work shows a passion for early print traditions, particularly letterpress and historic image-making techniques.

Since 2020, his practice has evolved into a dedicated exploration of craftsmanship, producing beautifully considered books, broadsides, and woodcut illustrations.

Drawing inspiration from the late medieval and early Renaissance periods, Lar’s work reflects a reverence for the tactile, time-honoured processes of print.

At the heart of Lar’s practice is a commitment to preserving and reinterpreting traditional techniques. Each work is approached with care and precision, celebrating the physicality of ink, paper, and pressure, while embracing the imperfections that give handmade print its character.

Jorge is Portugese and based in Denmark.
