S.A.W. Open Studios with Emma Housley
As part of Somerset Art Weeks Open Studios event we have had the talented Emma Housley working in our garden / workshop space.
Its been an absolute pleasure watching her create new works, seeing the layers build up and the images develop. Emma tends to work on several pieces at once as each layer needs to dry before she can continue, which makes for a visual feast for the viewer as the table is littered with colour. Her main focus this past week has been on her pine wooden squares. She usually creates them in sets of 6 or 9 and calls them ‘installations’ although we have a selection of individual ones availabe for sale in the gallery during her exhibition ‘Bliss’ which is showing until October the 18th.
Emma is a full time artist and is firmly making her mark on the emerging art scene with her vibrant and unique style. We are incredibly proud to be able to support her on her journey and host this exhibition of her work.
We had the children from St. John’s School visit us at the gallery to learn about Emma and her work and they created some fantastic art inspired by their experience.
Below is a short video of Emma talking about her work;
Emma will be working in the garden on the 30th, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Please do pop in and say hi, it is a great opportunity to get to know the artist and experience her creative process. We also have a stunning garden which is a great place to relax and enjoy a coffee from our state of the art Bean to Cup coffee machine.
