Tamsyn Swingler

Working as ‘Tarraway Hoofpress’, Tamsyn produces hand-pulled lino prints inspired by the folklore and ritual traditions of Cornwall. Her work draws on tales of devils, village customs, guise plays, and the strange theatrics of rural history.

The name Tarraway recalls a mischievous character from Cornish guise plays, while Hoofpress hints at something cloven and otherworldly pressing ink to paper. In reality, her tools are simple and tactile, keeping the process grounded in handcraft and tradition.

Tamsyn’s practice revels in inversion, authority made absurd and the sacred turned playful. Her prints carry the boldness of traditional lino-cut technique while holding space for the strange and the humorous.

Tamsyn studied Illustration at Falmouth University and has worked with organisations including Backhand Theatre. Alongside her printmaking practice, she runs Madame Morwenna's, creating bespoke, hand-sewn costume accessories.
